Have you ever had real solid hot food at Fruit Magic? Something like pasta, burger, or pizza? Maybe for some, they wouldn’t be surprised, but for a lot of people, Fruit Magic is the fruit juice stand we see just about everywhere. Yes, maybe you’ve seen them serve healthy sandwiches, but not pizza… ^_^ This is another QD experience that really was something new for us.
ABOUT THE QUICK DELIVERY EXPERIENCE
I had a GC and ordered in advance. Everything went ok the time I made that online advance order, but when delivery day came, they tried to call me half an hour before the delivery because, as it turns out, one of the items I ordered was unavailable. Well, we just dropped that dish (was suppose to be an Eggplant Lasagna – Mario was happy this didn’t go through).
The food arrived in Fruit Magic boxes and bags and they were all properly labeled.
OFF-PEAK promo for the month of February. 10% Delivery Discount from 170 restaurants (Italiannis, Fish&Co, CYMA, TGIF & many more) from 2PM-5PM, Mon-Sunday. Menu: http://www.quickdelivery.ph / Call: 2121212. Available for Cash Transactions Only.
WHAT WE ORDERED
Yes, we know they can make juice really well, so can they make pasta, burger and pizza equally good as they make their juices? Let’s see…
We ordered Baked Mac and Cheese (White Sauce) – P110, Carbonara (White Sauce) – P110, Cheese Steak – P185, All Meat (Square Puff Pizza) – P390, and Pocket Burger – P130. Here’s our evaluation on each order.
This was a little dry (probably an understatement) but it really was like a dish that had been served 30 minutes ago, so the sauce was like gelatin at this point. This came with bread and cheese in separate packaging. Other than the gelatin sauce and room temperature pasta (you can also tell from the photos), the pasta, tasted ok.
This time, pasta wasn’t dry, it just needed a little mixing. Yes, it said White Sauce but I didn’t expect it to be almost plain white. I guess that’s healthy pasta for you? Not a whole lot of colors going on, not that much appealing to the senses (specially the sense of sight), but it got better when I opened the cheese and topped the pasta with it. There were ham and bacon, but they got lost in the whiteness of it all. Still, the taste was good. Wasn’t heavily sauced, which I liked, because you really don’t feel a whole lot guiltier eating this versus regular carbonara.
Cheese Steak P185 (Thinly sliced tenderloin beef and cheese slices with vegetable mix.)
This one, you’ll really know that you’re eating something healthy. There were lots of greens and the tenderloin was perfectly cooked. It wasn’t a heavy dish, but I think I would consider this as a wonderful lunch and be satisfied.
At first, I ordered the “SCD” version of this dish which, as it turns out, is for people with Senior Citizen’s Discount Card. So, that’s the first time I learned about that abbreviation, and these are the ones you should go for when buying with that privilege card. ^_^ Honestly, I really wanted this pizza to blow me away, because it looked amazing, we received it warm to a little hot, and I love all-meat pizza. I would have ordered something with pineapples for Mario, but because there wasn’t any, it was my all-meat day! The problem with this dish was that at first bite, it had a peculiar taste that wasn’t pizza at all. We (Mario and I), looked at each other and we knew that we had the same experience with our first bites. So, we left the 14 slices, came back for it at night (we order in the afternoon), then reheat the pizza, and that made a whole lot of difference. I really liked it after it was reheated and I don’t know what the explanation of that is, but that’s what it took to bring it to the next level.
I’m not too sure if Fruit Magic might have bitten more than it could chew because of the expansion of the menu list into hot food. I wasn’t there to see if Fruit Magic started out with just pizza or burger or pasta, but there were a lot of misses, as there were hits in our Fruit Magic food experience. But I’m willing to try again after a year and I reckon they would have improved immensely by that time, or I might try going to their shop to sample the dishes once more after 6 months to see if there’s been any change.
